Girl(s) Behind the Glass - is a scholarship program dedicated to helping young female-identifying artists make records while learning the ins and outs of music production through working with a team of female-identifying producers and engineers.
Behind the glass refers to where the production team sits in a music studio. The engineer and/or producer sits behind glass so that they have an unimpeded line of sight to the performers. Two-way visual communication. Young women however are rarely encouraged to hold the role of producer / engineer. In fact less than 3% of these jobs are occupied by women. We'd like to encourage change in this realm but creating a supportive environment by women for women that fosters education and a safe space where women are encouraged to experiment with all things behind the glass. It's also an the opportunity for female artists to learn more about how to communicate with their production teams in order to feel more comfortable and confident in the studio.
