About Us

I HEART Inc is an incorporated 501(c)(3) non-profit organization begun by musicians Arrica Rose, Abby Kincaid, and Laura Martin. While touring in the Southwest, the girls were inspired by a fellow female musician named Eva Blaylock, who was creatively using her talents and connections to raise money for charitable organizations in her hometown. Excited about the possibility of re-creating Eva's success in Los Angeles, the girls began brainstorming ideas for what would eventually become I HEART. The first I HEART project was The Bombshell Alliance 1940's pin-up girl calendar and compilation which raised funding for The Silverlake Music Conservatory and Sojourn Services for Battered Women and Their Children.

I HEART is currently run by President and founder Arrica Rose who has since expanded upon the concept of the original project, coordinating creative events and programs not only in Los Angeles but also in San Francisco, Oakland, NYC and in Austin at SXSW.

The motto is simple: Do what you can, with where you are and what you’ve got. This philosophy enables independent artists to collectively leverage their talents by utilizing creative projects to give back to their community. It also allows participating artists to connect with new fans as well as fellow artists who have the desire to use their art to effect change. I HEART is currently located in both Los Angeles and Oakland CA with the hopes to continue expanding nationally as well as internationally, uniting communities and artists across the globe.

I HEART has been fortunate to enlist an amazing team of sponsors and supporters including Willie Nelson, Crosby Stills and Nash, Iron & Wine/Sub Pop Records, Rachel Maddow, Fran Drescher, Olivia Newton-John, Jackson Browne, Jack White, Bird & The Bee/Inara George, Jesca Hoop, Smart Water, Martin Guitars, Dan Akroyd's Crystal Head Vodka, Jimi Hendrix’s Electric Lady Studios, Radio Hill Recorders, LA Weekly, Amoeba Records, Hotel Cafe and many more…

Current & Upcoming Projects:

1+1=Music - 1+1=Music is a non-profit music education program that aims to educate, empower, and enable students artistically and indiscriminately through music. The goal of our program is to provide a unique opportunity to our students regardless of financial restraints and help independent artists fund their artistic endeavors by giving back to their community through the teaching and mentoring of tomorrow's artists.

Hummingbirds and Helicopters - Hummingbirds and Helicopters Vol. 1: A Benefit for South Texas is the first installment in a series of disaster relief benefit albums spearheaded by avant-folk luminary Jolie Holland. In response to the devastation of Hurricane Harvey, Holland (a native Houstonian) organized a group of artists—a group both eclectic and cohesive to record classic Gulf Coast songs. The album’s 11 tracks feature Holland, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, Dean Ween, Big Thief and many more. Album proceeds will be donated to the UN award-winning The Schoolbox Project, a 501c3 non-profit that provides trauma-informed care for children rendered homeless or without access to education due to the deluge.

1$ Difference - Artists donate a song. You pay what you can. 100% of the profits are donated to a great cause of their choosing.

Artist for the Ethical Treatment on Music - I HEART is raising awareness and funding to promote the ethical treatment of music and its creators. Our goal is to provide grants as well as raise funding for creative projects that expose artists to new fans and allow for the proliferation of independent music.

Past Projects:

The Million Dollar Revival I HEART Inc's Million Dollar Revival was a benefit for Fran Drescher's Cancer Schmancer Movement. The Million Dollar Revival was be a vaudevillian evening true to the era of old-time variety shows, a Los Angeles style melting pot of live music and comedy, an unholy marriage of acts one would never imagine gracing the same stage. This one of a kind event at the historic Million Dollar Theatre raised funding for low income, uninsured women of Los Angeles to receive free women’s cancer screening tests (as well as free follow-up care) right in their own neighborhoods. Hosted by Fran Drescher the event featured performances by Jackson Browne, Olivia Newton-John, Inara George, Beth Nielsen Chapman, Whispertown, Charlyne Yi, Arrica Rose, Chris Pierce, Caitlyn Crosby, Stilt World, special guest Rosie O'Donnell and more!

We're proud to have sponsored Omaha Girls Rock camp in 2011 and 2012. Omaha Girls Rock's mission is to give girls the confidence to use their voice through music education and performance. Female mentors act as a support system encouraging self expression and self respect. Through workshops and one-on-one instruction OGR aims to cultivate DIY values that form the core of the independent music experience - confidence, self reliance and original thinking - and encourage the students to apply these values in all aspects of their lives.

I HEART Austin at SXSW was an evening of live music, drink specials, raffles (autographed Willie Nelson Martin Guitar, free recording session at Electric Lady Studios & much more). All proceeds raised were donated to Health Alliance for Austin Musicians. Live Performances by:  Local Natives, Arrica Rose, WAZ, The Union Line, Butterfly Boucher, Miranda Lee Richards & Austin’s own: Murdocks & Vallejo Sponsored by: Electric Lady Studios, Martin Guitars, Radio Hill Recorders, Lurssen Mastering, Junk Food, Jakprints, Strait Music, One 2 One, Vitamin Water, Cultural Operations, Hotel Saint Cecilia in Austin, Gershwin Hotel in NYC, Uchi Sushi, & Ashley McCue Photography Produced by: Arrica Rose and GoodWin Entertainment

Our second project was The Indie-Rock Easel where indie-rockers who moonlight as visual artists turned their versatile talents into limited edition t-shirt designs for charity. Set in a gallery-esque heat press store Red Heat, The Indie-Rock Easel was a night of live music, an open bar, and a chance to buy limited edition t-shirt creations pressed while you watch. All profits from the sale of the t-shirts were donated to Sojourn Services for Battered Women and their Children and The Silverlake Conservatory of Music.

We are proud to have sponsored the New York Coalition Against Hunger's Full Plate of Fashion event. We assisted in collecting a series of celebrity autographed and/or artist designed plates to be auctioned off the eve of the event - all proceeds donated to NYCCAH. We are grateful to Crosby, Stills and Nash, Rachel Maddow and Fran Drescher for signing plates on behalf of I HEART Inc.

Our holiday parties included I HEART Inc's NYC Coalition Against Hunger Benefit @ The Zipper Factory and an I HEART L.A. Rescue Benefit @ The Roxy

Our first project was The Bombshell Alliance, a 1940’s style pin-up calendar and accompanying compilation CD featuring Los Angeles based female musicians.  All profits from the sale of the calendar were donated to Sojourn Services for Battered Women and their Children.  Additionally, I HEART used profits earned from the calendar’s launch party to create a one-year scholarship for  a young student to attend The Silverlake Conservatory of Music.  The sold-out launch party was held at The Hotel Café in Hollywood, CA.
