1 + 1 = Music

DONATE to I HEART
all contributions greatly appreciated!

I HEART's 1+1= Music is a non-profit program (operating in both Los Angeles and Oakland, CA) that aims to educate, empower, and enable students artistically through music. In keeping with I HEART's mission to integrate independent artists and their communities, it is our pledge to provide a unique opportunity to students regardless of financial restraints and facilitate the mentoring of tomorrow's artists by the up-and-coming artists of today. Our classes and programs are all taught by active artists seeking to give back to their community through teaching their craft while still continuing to pursue their own artistic goals. Any donation to 1+1= Music thereby benefits both the students and artists participating in our program. It is our belief that active artists make the most knowledgeable instructors and mentors, creating a well-rounded curriculum that draws on first-hand experience and encourages students to understand the language of music in a bigger picture context. We offer full scholarships, standard and sliding scale rates. When a student who is capable of paying a full rate enrolls in classes he or she is subsidizing an underprivileged student by allowing him or her the opportunity to enroll in our music education program at a reduced rate. It is our belief that a thriving community is an integrated one that affords opportunities to all of its constituents. Our partnerships with local artists, businesses, benefactors, and schools within the community contribute to making this ideal and this program possible.
